Guitar Prodigy?

So, this being England in the winter, everyone has had to deal with copious amounts of snow (and trust me, this country doesn’t work very well in the snow!). Looking outside my window, there is still a foot (30cm) of snow covering everything and this is after it’s been sitting there -melting- for the last few days.

Because nobody can travel anywhere through the thick snow, I’ve had much more free time this week that I’ve really wanted- not that I can make use of it with all the power cuts! While browsing the Internet randomly in my boredom, I came across this video of an 8 year old guitar player playing the blues.

I know you’re now expecting me to comment on his guitar technique, and what we can all learn from his playing. Well I think his guitar technique is average, it doesn’t sound like he has enough maturity or life experience to truly understand or play the blues, and his guitar is way too big for him. The reason everybody seems to be into him is purely due to his young age…

…however…

…there is something that we can all learn from this guy- seriously!

Attitude and Motivation

You see, in every guitar player there ever was -or ever will be- there is a small child like this. What is special about him is his pure, youthful, enthusiasm for guitar- something that is essential for anyone who wants to play guitar. All of the exercises and techniques I talk about on this site mean nothing without your own dedication and enthusiasm for practice. So I hope that this boy’s story helps to inspire you to keep practicing the instrument you love!

…and I’m also hoping that this story has a happy ending…
