Pocket POD

For years now, I’ve been trying to get a decent sound for my recordings- I’ve never been satisfied with the equipment and tools I’ve had available. Leading to alot of frustration.

Not anymore! Yesterday I went out and bought a Pocket POD. This is an amp simulator, and guitar effects unit- although, after having bought it (and before reading the instructions, of course!), I found effects for guitar, bass, and vocals- all of which seem to work through it! I’ve never been a fan of line 6, but now I realise that it was because I was always trying to do something different to what the devices were built for. I’ve always wanted a great live sound, and by great I mean, heavy- and the compressed/digital sound of modern effects pedals (including line 6 amps) have always sounded horrible to me. Although as I’ve come to realise, what works for live, doesnt always work for recording. The digital computer LIKES the digital sounding effects.

As a demonstration, I uploaded a song re-recorded with the POD. Both the old version and the remix are here. You’ll notice how much better the POD sounds than my old equipment.

So now I’m closer to recording great tracks…all I need now is a computer that doesnt obsessively crash every five minutes :)

I might also upload more tracks, using the POD, to my website- I know I’m definitely going to redo the exercise examples to make them clearer.

I would recommend this effects unit to anyone.
